Pontifical Mission of John Paul II (1978-2005)
John Paul has been a truly Great Pope John Paul II and set many records. He was Pope for 25 years and 5 months, carried out 104 apostolic trips outside Italy (132 countries, 143 pastoral visits in Italy). He wrote 14 apostolic encyclicals, 13 exhortations, 11 apostolic constitutions, 42 apostolic letters and 28 Motu proprio (85 000 pages). He crossed more of million 300 thousand kilometers, the one that represents almost 29 times the return the Earth and almost three times the distance between the Earth and the moon. He proclaimed 1820 (1,338 devout ones and he canonized to 482 devout ones...)
His writings include 3,500 speeches from his trips and more than 1 thousand of the speeches he made at his general audiences which more than 17 million people attended.
Pope Francis canonized him to Sainthood on April 2, 2014. “O God, who are rich in mercy, willed that St. John Paul II should preside as Pope over your universal Church, grant we pray, that instructed by his teaching, we may open our hearts to the saving grace of Christ, the sole Redeemer of mankind. Who lives and reigns, one God, forever and ever.” AMEN
